Black Maternal Health

Each year, the Social Justice Fund selects a specific theme for its Belong Brooklyn campaign, which is dedicated to sparking meaningful conversations about the idea of "belonging" in communities in Brooklyn and around the world. The 2023 theme is centered on black maternal health equity as an essential right, a concept symbolized by the renowned artist Tavares Strachan's “You Belong Here/We Belong Here” art installation. This striking artwork is currently on display outside the Barclays Center. To bring attention to this critical theme, the Social Justice Fund initiated a matched funds campaign, pledging up to $25,000 to four organizations that are dedicated to improving health outcomes for pregnant people of color in Brooklyn.

Understanding the profound importance of this mission, the fund entrusted the Viney Group to design the creative artwork that would best represent and support this theme. The Viney Group's inspired design was unveiled on June 26 at the NY Liberty's WBSNA event and will continue to play a prominent role throughout the season. By aligning creativity with a powerful message, the Viney Group's artwork contributes to a campaign that stands as a beacon for community connection and health equity."
